Which test do I need?

If you want to find out whether or not you currently have COVID or if you are travelling, the Antigen or PCR test is what you're looking for.

If you want to verify if your vaccine has developed an immune response or if you've been previously exposed to covid in the past, the Antibody test is what you're looking for.

What is the difference between the Antibody Post-Infection and the Antibody Post-Vaccination test?

The Antibody Post-Infection test is used to determine whether or not a person has been exposed to COVID-19 in the past. A blood sample is collected. Results are guaranteed under 24 hours. Results will show POSITIVE or NEGATIVE, indicating whether or not the person has antibodies or not.

The Antibody Post-Vaccination test is used to determine a person’s immune response to the vaccine. A blood sample is collected. Results are guaranteed under 24 hours. Results will show a total number of antibodies.

Both tests combined help provide a better and more complete understanding of a person’s immune status.

Antibody testing should NOT be used to infer immunity status or infectivity and should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) infection.

Are the tests approved for travel?

The PCR test is approved worldwide for all destinations and valid for any international travel.

Travelling to the USA (CDC:) https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html. The Rapid Antigen is accepted. Also approved for travel to certain parts of Europe & the UK.

What is a Rapid Antigen Test?

Rapid Antigen tests help detect the presence of viral proteins (antigens) expressed by the COVID-19 virus in a sample from the respiratory tract of a person. It is performed via non-invasive nasal swab and can be used to detect COVID-19 or for travel purposes.

How long does it take to get results?

COVID-19 PCR Test: Results under 24 hours guaranteed.

COVID-19 Rush PCR Test: Results under 10 hours guaranteed.

COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test: Results in 15 minutes.

COVID-19 Antibody Tests: Results under 24 hours guaranteed.

How accurate are the results?

As per the manufacturer the results are:

RT-PCR: Gold Standard.

Antigen Test: Nasal: 96.7% Sensitivity; 100% Specificity.

Can I book more than one test at a time?

Yes, you can book as many tests as you would like.

What happens if I test positive for Antibodies?

A Positive result for COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) antibody result may indicate previous or current exposure to COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) but should NOT be used to infer immunity status or infectivity. It is unknown whether antibodies indicate protective immunity and for how long.

What happens if I test positive for COVID-19?

If your test is positive for Covid-19 then you must immediately contact your local health professionals for information on how to proceed. All of this information can be found in the link below:

Do you report positive test results to Public Health?

Yes, any positive result will be transmitted to Public Health authorities in accordance with the laws and regulations.

Are these tests covered by private insurance?

We provide an invoice that you can submit to your insurance. Most insurances cover up to 80% or more of private laboratory testing. Please contact your private insurance company to confirm if your test will be covered.

Are these tests accepted to go back to school or work?

All of our tests are approved by Health Canada and an official attestation of your COVID-19 test results will be provided. We recommend that you contact the organization directly in order to determine which test is accepted.

Are Your Tests Painful?

Covid Test Express’s tests will not hurt! Our tests are validated for a mid-nasal collection, which means that the swab is inserted less than one inch into the nostril. This collection process is way more comfortable than the nasopharyngeal collection used in most hospitals and clinics.
